The Draw of the Normandy Coast (1860-1960)
From Monet to Marquet, artists gravitated to the Normandy coast in the 19th and 20th centuries and to the beaches and boulevards of Honfleur, Le Havre, and Étretat. This PMA exhibition (June 14 — September 3, 2012) brought the coast of Normandy to the coast of Maine with works by Eugéne-Louis Boudin, Gustave Courbet, Edgar Degas, Marcel Duchamp, Albert Marquet, Camille Pissarro, Paul Strand, and many more. The works were assembled in this beautiful catalogue that accompanied the exhibition.
By Margaret E. Burgess with essays by Frances Fowle and Richard Kendall.
