Fine Lines: American Art from the Brooklyn Museum
This catalog is the first major publication on the Brooklyn Museum’s exceptional collection of pre-1945 American drawings highlighting over 100 masterworks. Author Karen A. Sherry, now Chief Curator and Curator of American Art at the PMA, begins by putting the collection in context within the broader history of graphic arts in America. Dating from the late 18th century through the mid-20th century, these featured drawings encompass a wide range of techniques, styles, and media including pen and ink, crayon, charcoal and pastel. More than 70 artists are represented among them Benjamin West, John Singleton Copley, Winslow Homer, Thomas Eakins, John Singer Sargent, Edward Hopper, Georgia O’Keeffe.
